Criminally unknown Power-Pop gem recorded in 1981, this record existed only in the memories of a few St Louisans & the grubby mitts of a few Power Pop collectors the world over. Head John Bob Kuhlmann recently unearthed a batch of singles that had been in storage for thirty years & BDR has whipped up new covers with never-before seen photos & new liner notes. Limited to the 350 copies on hand....and the first 100 will even come with a download code to get more songs from their only recording session. Wow!

That's right kids The Welders smash hit 4 song 7"ep is available again! We sold out of all 500 copies of the first pressing, so we've done a second. 500 more copies with the same beautiful sleeve and fold out insert, but this time it's pressed on classic black vinyl. Heck, we're such nice guys that we've even decided (been able) to lower the price a bit. Since it cost less to do a second pressing, we're passing the savings on to you...for a limited time, anyway. It's so you poor kids can buy the record and still be kept in Top ramen and Meister Brau for at least one more day with your leftover loot.

The Welders-4 song s/t 7"ep (BDR#3)
The Welders formed in 1975 and dissolved in 1981; leaving behind only a few fanzine articles and faded memories of their live performances. They were St. Louis? first and only all female band during the Punk era. Where many Rn'R females tout the bad girl persona, The Welders chose to embrace their good girl tendencies to create a near perfect blend of The Monkees, New York Dolls and Saturday morning cartoons. A recording session in 1979 for a planned vinyl EP never saw the light of day when the individual backing the release went bankrupt. That session has been rescued and restored from a 30 year old, rotting cassette, and BDR is happy to bring you this master piece of St. Louis music some three decades later.
*The Welders EP is a pressing of 500 copies on opaque red vinyl, in a glue pocket sleeve, with a double sided 7" x 14" insert*

V/A-Test Patterns CD (BDR #1)

BDR brings you a reissue of the classic Test Patterns compilation album; originally released by Jet Lag Magazine's John the Mailman in 1981. Although obscure outside of the area due to a lack of national distribution upon its initial release, the compilation is known to early Punk/Indie record collectors and some clued in music historians. Test Patterns features two songs each by seven independent bands from the St. Louis area: The Felons, The Mopeds, The Strikers, Swift Kick, The Oozkicks, Trained Animal and The Zanti Misfits. The songs range from poppy Punk to Power Pop to hard-edged New Wave, with a couple bands even giving a nod to the 2 Tone revival of the day. Remastered from the original tapes and issued on compact disc for the first time ever! Liner notes by Steve Pick of Jet Lag Magazine and Jason Ross of BDR Records.

BDR #1 - V/A- Test Patterns CD

A reissue of the St. Louis compilation album, originally released by Jet Lag's John the Mailman in 1981. Featuring two songs each by seven local, independent bands. Ranging from Punk to Power Pop to New Wavey sounds. Remastered from the original master tapes and issued on shiny compact disc for the first time ever!

BDR #3 - The Welders-s/t 7"ep

Finally! A vinyl issue of the unreleased 4 song EP recorded in 1979 by St. Louis' first all female Punk Pop band! Rescued and restored from the only available source...a 30 year old rotting cassette. Pressed in a limited edition on red, opaque vinyl.

Both releases will be released and available for purchase on July 31st, 2010 at the second BDR Records Release Party. It's a free event and happening at the Schlafy Tap Room, dowtown St. Louis. Listening party and reception at 8:00pm, followed by live music starting at 9:00pm from label co-presidential bands Bunnygrunt and Medical Tourists. Plus a special appearance by the Welder tribute band...Welder Grunt! Don't miss the fun!

Raymilland-Recordings '79-'81 LP/CD now available!!!

Hello fine music buyer and blog reader-

BDR Records is pleased to announce the release of Recordings '79-'81, a collection of legendary St. Louis post punk band Raymilland. The release is available on limited CD and vinyl that also includes the full length CD. Recordings '79-'81 is the first release for BDR Records; a new label who's sole purpose is to issue archival releases of St. Louis area music from the new wave era.

Raymilland formed in the summer of 1978 in St. Louis and lasted until the fall of 1981. Although starting out playing standard punk covers by the Buzzcocks, Damned, and Ultravox, their original influences and ideas about music leaned more toward the no-wave bands of NY and the more experimental bands from the UK. Raymilland played live eight times; four in St. Louis and four in Chicago. A fifth Chicago date slotted to open for Joy Division never happened when the US tour was canceled due to the death of Ian Curtis. Raymilland released one single in 1980 on Praxis; an influential Chicago music/art magazine, had one song included on the first Sub-Pop compilation cassette, and another on a compilation cassette released by the legendary Dong Dong Tapes from the Netherlands. A self produced demo cassette to attract label interest and procure live gigs was so influential that Wax Trax Records sold bootleg copies in their Chicago retail store. Although the band was constantly recording; there were no further official releases. Almost 30 years later BDR Records persuades the band to release a collection of those recordings. The members reviewed their vast archive to assemble the definitive Raymilland collection, and the result is Recordings '79-'81.
